COVID-19 Protocols & Entry Requirements
Last updated: 17 August 2022
International Travel Status
Indonesia is open for international travel.
We recommend that travelers get a booster shot if they plan to travel on a domestic flight within Indonesia. While fully vaccinated travelers (without booster) are able to enter Indonesia without quarantine, they will be required to have either a booster shot at least 14 days in advance or a PCR test within 3 days of boarding a domestic flight. We recommend arranging a booster shot to avoid having to take a PCR test while in country.
Visa on Arrival is available for passport holders from the following countries:
1. Argentina |
26. Hungary |
51. Portugal |
Access into Indonesia
Entry is available via the following air, land and sea ports:
AIR |
SEA |
LAND |
Soekarno Hatta Jakarta |
Nongsa Terminal Bahari Riau Islands |
Entikong West Kalimantan |
Entry Requirements
For fully vaccinated travelers:
- Vaccination certificate dated at least 14 days prior to travel (paper copy). In order to travel on a domestic flight within Indonesia, a booster shot is also needed
Children aged 0-17 are exempt from this requirement. Please note that proof of recovery from COVID-19 is not accepted in lieu of proof of vaccination
In Indonesia, you are considered fully vaccinated if you have received at least 2 doses of any combination of vaccine or 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
- Download PeduliLindungi, Indonesia’s contact tracing app, and complete the eHAC health declaration form on the app
- Complete the online Custom Declaration form (e-CD) and follow all current public health measures set out by the Indonesian government during the stay
- A PCR test is no longer required, however, a health screening will be conducted on arrival
Travelers who present symptoms of COVID-19 or who have a temperature higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius will be required to undergo an RT-PCR test and wait for the results at their booked accommodation. If a negative result is received, the traveler can continue with their travel plan.
For non-vaccinated travelers:
- Quarantine for five days at a pre-booked hotel and undergo a PCR test on arrival; a second PCR test will be conducted before the traveler is released from quarantine
- Download PeduliLindungi, Indonesia’s contact tracing app, and complete the eHAC health declaration form on the app
- Complete the online Custom Declaration form (e-CD) and follow all current public health measures set out by the Indonesian government during the stay
Please note:
- Travelers who tested positive for COVID-19 within 30 days prior to arrival in Indonesia are required to undergo an RT-PCR test on arrival. The traveler also needs to obtain a certificate stating that they are no longer actively transmitting COVID-19, issued by the relevant health authority in the country of departure
- In cases when an RT-PCR test is required on arrival, travelers must remain at their booked accommodation until a negative test result is received
- Travelers who test positive for COVID-19 on arrival or during their stay will be required to self-isolate. If the traveler has mild or no symptoms, they can isolate at a hotel for the period advised by a medical professional. If the traveler has moderate to severe symptoms (such as high fever, cough, shortness of breath and rapid breathing) they will be required to isolate at a local hospital until discharged by a medical professional (medical costs at the traveler's expense)
- Travelers are advised to ensure they obtain the correct visa type prior to travel
- From June 2022, health insurance is no longer mandatory for travel, however, travelers are required to follow all public health measures while in country
- This information is subject to change; please contact your local embassy or consulate for the most current requirements for entry
