Itinerary

Day 1 - Liuwa Plains

Depart Lusaka on a shared light aircraft, two hour twenty minute flight to the airstrip. On arrival a representative will meet and transfer you to the lodge. The transfer time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes through the park. Largely untouched by crowds and paved roads, Liuwa Plain National Park boasts one of the oldest conservation histories in Africa as it was proclaimed a protected area by the lodge’s namesake, King Lewanika in the early 1880's.

Set on the banks of the Munde stream, King Lewanika Lodge is the only permanent camp in the Park. Just six luxury villas have been carefully designed to make the most of the sweeping vistas from this tranquil and secluded spot. Raised on wooden platforms, modern and sleek, yet perfectly in tune with its surrounds, the villas open in the front to make the most of the spectacular views. Each villa features a comfortable lounge, a spacious bathroom with an outdoor shower and a wide terrace.

The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer which include day and night game drives and guided walks. The rainy season, between December and March, offers opportunities for boating and canoeing.
