Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on crop-to-bowl experience at a working farm in Luang Prabang. Join the farmer, on a walk around the property to see how the family grows their own rice and organic vegetables. Experience a typical day on the farm, learning some of the traditional methods of growing and harvesting local crops. Then head to the wooden farmhouse to meet the matriarch of the family who skilfully demonstrates how grains of glutinous rice plucked from the field can be transformed into long, white strands of noodles, a Lao specialty called kaopun. The noodles are served with a delicious hot broth, made at the farmhouse, and topped with fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden. You can try making the dish yourself and savor a bowl of your own handmade noodles.
