Itinerary

Day 1 - Anderson Valley - Mendocino

Set out on your journey to the village of Mendocino on the Northern California Coast. Your route takes you through scenic Anderson Valley, an important wine region. Wineries dot the landscape of golden hills, oaks and redwoods and beckon you for a tasting. The village of Boonville is lined with galleries and shops and makes an interesting stop.

Once you strike the coast, views open west across the Pacific Ocean. You’re now traveling on Highway One along rocky bluffs and through quaint villages. Mendocino is an historic Victorian-era village perched above the sea. Formerly a logging town, Mendocino has transitioned into a haven for artists and visitors and boasts a robust dining and shopping scene.

The Heritage House Resort is nestled into Mendocino's rugged Pacific coastline. Many rooms offer unobstructed ocean views, with sliding glass doors opening onto large private decks. Among the innumerable comforts, guests enjoy exquisite robes, rainfall showers, luxury bath products, and upgraded rooms feature gas or wood-burning fireplace to warm the soul on chilly Northern California evenings.

Day 2 - Private Mendocino Coast Tour

This morning, set out with your guide on a private tour exploring the best of the Mendocino Coast. The experience will be tailored to the interests of your party. A visit to Glass Beach, the Cabrillo Lighthouse, and a coastal walk are all highlights. Pay a visit to the village of Mendocino - the only town listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Victorian architecture, backed by majestic redwoods, makes for great photography. Gourmet picnic lunch included.

After lunch, start your journey further north to the Redwood Coast. Sit back and enjoy views of redwood groves and small towns. You may choose to stop and stretch your legs in a state park, or on a beach. The travel time is approximately 4 hours.

Elk Meadow Cabins is conveniently located in the middle of Redwood National Park, Fern Canyon, and Prairie Creek State Park. A short drive from the world-famous Lady Bird Johnson Grove, the cabins are near redwood hiking. The furnishings are pleasantly modern, and all cabins have two or three bedrooms, full kitchens, two bathrooms, washer-dryers, and porches with grills. On the grounds are a communal fire pit and an outdoor hot tub.

The experience will be tailored to your interests, and you may choose a short hike, or a trip to see the coastal areas of the preserve. Full day tours include a picnic lunch.

Day 4 - Historic Jacksonville Walking Tour

This morning you make your way to the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon through more beautiful scenery. The morning’s travel time is approximately 3 hours.

The 1850s gold rush town of Jacksonville is a National Historic Landmark. Take a stroll with your guide on a private tour of this perfectly-preserved western town. Today, Jacksonville is known as much for wine tasting as it is for its history. You’ll have the chance to enjoy locally-produced wines and cheeses, and walk the streets where Hollywood westerns starring Robert Duvall and Kirk Douglas were filmed. The experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours.

An all-seasons resort near Crater Lake and Klamath Falls, Running Y Ranch offers unique experiences throughout the year, from white water rafting in the summer to snowshoeing in the winter. Well-known for its family-friendly environment and proximity to great restaurants, Running Y hosts a variety of accommodations, including an 82-room lodge, custom homes and chalets.
