Duration: 1 day
Half day excursion to the Pantanos (Marshlands) de Villa.
Highlights: Bird spotting.
FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
The Pantanos (Marshlands) de Villa are part of a world-important wetland system providing feeding, breeding, roosting, and sheltering grounds for resident and migratory birds in the Americas, many of which travel yearly the thousands of miles between North and South America, the upper-Andean lagoons and the Amazon Basin. It is one of the few natural environments along Peru’s desert coastline to harbor the permanent presence of several species.
Pantanos de Villa is the only protected area inside the urban area of the city of Lima: for that very reason it is highly valued by the local population as a scientific, educational, and recreational site.
