Programme Overview

Explore New Zealand’s rich tapestry of wilderness, culture and rugged adventure. Trek through the Waitakere Ranges, sample the fine wines of Nelson’s vineyards and swim with dolphins in Akaroa.

Highlights: Auckland, Kerikeri, Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park, Christchurch.

DAY 1

Auckland

Upon arrival in Auckland you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel which will be ready immediately.

Depart on a trek through the magnificent Waitakere Ranges, a subtropical forest on Auckland's west coast. Here you will discover the black sand beaches on the coast before returning to your hotel.

DAY 2

Auckland - Kerikeri

Fly to Kerikeri and begin your Northland adventure with a tour of the spectacular Bay of Islands. Learn more about colonial and Maori history at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where you visit the historic Treaty house and see a copy of the treaty that united the lives of European and Maori people in 1840. Later transfer to your lodge with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

DAY 3

Kerikeri

Meet in the lobby with your pilot who will escort you to your awaiting helicopter. Fly over some of New Zealand’s most stunning scenery including Ninety-Mile Beach, Cape Reinga where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean and Tapotupotu Bay. On landing, climb into a 4WD and travel down Te Paki Stream and through the giant sand dunes of Ninety-Mile Beach. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch before flying back down the spectacular east coast, concluding your tour at your accommodation.

DAY 4

Kerikeri - Nelson - Abel Tasman National Park

Fly to the artisan paradise of Nelson. Admire its historic Victorian buildings and sample the fine wines of its many vineyards before continuing to Abel Tasman National Park.

DAY 5

Abel Tasman National Park

Explore the beauty of Abel Tasman National Park’s golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs and world-famous coast tracks. Set off on a guided walk before stopping for a private beach barbeque. Enjoy lunch while listening to traditional stories from a fourth generation Maori storyteller. There is the option to return to the lodge on foot, by kayak or by water taxi.

DAY 6

Abel Tasman National Park - Christchurch

Fly to Christchurch. Upon arrival visit the International Antarctic Centre and take an exciting outdoor ride on a genuine Antarctic vehicle - the Hagglund.  Enjoy a light lunch at a local café before a relaxing cruise on a punt on the tree-lined Avon River.

DAY 7

Christchurch

Spend today visiting the Banks Peninsula and in particular the French flavoured village of Akaroa. Embark on a cruise of the harbour and swim with the rare Hector’s dolphins which can be found in these waters. Enjoy a light lunch and then a walking tour of this quaint seaside village.
