One of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles, the annual migration of over 2 million wildebeest and zebra, is currently taking place in the Masai Mara, Kenya. This year the animals arrived in small herds of a few thousand at a time. They have been grazing and moving swiftly through the plains and the larger herds are steadily moving from the vast Serengeti plains, in Northern Tanzania, into Kenya.
One amazing sight to see is a river crossing, which could include about 10,000 animals. The sheer weight of numbers forces the front runners into the river and to face the challenges of the river crossing. The crocodiles and other large predators are lying in wait hoping for an easy meal. It is at this moment where you get the most dramatic and astonishing photos, and many of our guests have been lucky enough to experience the deafening noise and excitement. Evenings by the camp fire are full of exciting stories of sightings by guests from the day's game viewing.
