Duration: 1 day
An 8-hour shore excursion to the jewel of Southern Dalmatia, Dubrovnik and the Elafiti Islands.
Highlights: Dubrovnik, Elafiti Islands
This morning meet your English-speaking guide on the quayside by the ship, and board your private motor boat where you will be introduced to your captain who will be with you for your private cruise on which you will visit Dubrovnik and the Elafiti Islands.
Start your day exploring the beautiful Elafiti Islands which lie just off the coast. This archipelago is made up of many islands, most of which are uninhabited. As you sail towards the islands, you will hopefully enjoy some sun on the deck.
Eventually you will reach the island of Lopud, situated right in the centre of the Elafiti Archipelago. Here, the 15th-century cloister of the Franciscan monastery is one of the finest examples of the preserved medieval architecture in the Dubrovnik region. The island is also well known for its sandy beaches, so you could have a swim after enjoying a pleasant walk through the Mayneri Park. You may wish to enjoy some lunch at leisure in Lopud, trying some local specialties in the restaurant Obala, before you will be escorted on foot back to the boat and start cruising alongside the old city of Dubrovnik; where you will gain some memorable views of the famous walls from the sea. The old city is surrounded by a circuit of city walls; over a mile in length, and with a tower in each corner, they are a masterpiece of medieval and renaissance architecture.
After arriving at the old city harbor of Dubrovnik, you will have a guided walking tour of the old city, now listed as a city museum by UNESCO. Take a walk through the centuries old stone-paved city promenade called Stradun, pass the church of St. Blaise, and visit the 14th-century Franciscan Monastery whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites of the city. You will also see the impressive Sponza Palace and Rector's Palace before having time to relax with a cappuccino in one of the many outdoor cafés where you will soak up the atmosphere of the city.
Return to cruise ship after tour by private vehicle.
